The flight attendant who accused Pro Football Hall of Famer Terrell Davis of assault aboard a July 13 United flight from Denver to Orange County California no longer works for the airline, DailyMail.com has learned.

The legendary Denver Broncos running back claims he was handcuffed and removed from the flight after lightly tapping a flight attendant on the arm to ask for a cup of ice. That flight attendant, who remains unidentified to the public, then accused Davis of getting physical.

'Don't hit me,' the flight attendant is alleged to have told Davis, who later admitted on social media to being confused by the initial exchange.

Upon landing in Orange County, the pilot requested all passengers remain in their seats before six FBI and other law-enforcement agents boarded and took Davis into custody. Davis was ultimately released with apologies from the airline, which has now revealed to DailyMail.com that the flight attendant is no longer employed by United.

TMZ was the first to report United's dismissal of the flight attendant.

Adding to the 51-year-old Davis' frustration over the incident was a message he received and shared online Tuesday stating that he bad been banned from the airline. United has since explained that this was an automated letter and the two-time Super Bowl winner's ban was promptly rescinded.

'Mr. Davis received this letter the day after the incident,' read a statement provided to DailyMail.com. 'It was generated due to the report of the flight attendant - who is no longer employed by United. The day after the letter was sent, we discussed with Mr. Davis' team that it had been rescinded. We have apologized to Mr. Davis for his experience and continue to review our handling of incidents like this to protect our highest priority - the safety of our customers and crew.'

However, Davis' attorney, Parker Stinar, is denying that his client received notice that the ban was rescinded. Stiner went on to call for an 'overhaul of United's leadership.'

Davis has admitted to being 'humiliated' in front of his family on the July 13 flight and is demanding an investigation.

'I continue to reflect on the reality that my family will never unsee me, nor will I ever forget, being taken off an airplane in handcuffs for simply asking for a cup of ice,' Davis wrote on social media. 'We have had to endure difficult conversations with our children about how this has and will continue to affect them.

'My wife, who had to stand by powerless to this injustice, now has her own set of challenges, including watching what this has done to me despite me having to continue to push forward every day.

'This company not only wrongfully accused me of something I did not do and had me handcuffed and detained, but they have failed on so many levels to demonstrate any genuine empathy for my family's experience and also at making the real changes to ensure this doesn't happen to anyone else,' he continued. 'I was banned on this airline even after they sent a media-issued statement with a boilerplate 'apology.'

'They've somewhat admitted to wrongdoing but have done nothing to right this wrong. Really, @United? That's why we will continue to use our platform for the voiceless who have made it clear that United has a history of this type of behavior, and I will work to see the powerful held accountable for this mistreatment.'

A California native, Davis was an unheralded running back at Georgia before being picked by the Broncos in the sixth round of the 1995 NFL Draft.

Despite this, he would go on to win two NFL Offensive Player of the Year awards, while earning three All-Pro and Pro Bowl nods. He was the NFL's Most Valuable Player in 1998 and was MVP of Super Bowl XXXII as his Broncos beat the Green Bay Packers.
