Is IXL infinite? ›

Infinite! There are over 8,500 skills and unlimited computer-generated questions, so there's always fresh and compelling content! With IXL's unique scoring algorithm, questions adapt to the student's skill level to ensure the student is constantly challenged and engaged.

As the student answers questions correctly, the SmartScore increases. If a question is answered incorrectly, the score decreases.

IXL classroom subscriptions are active for a full calendar year. School might be out for the summer, but IXL is always in session! And summer break is the perfect opportunity to brush up on skills, or even get a head start on some new ones. IXL also has a free app, so students can practice on IXL anytime, anywhere.

While it claims to enhance learning outcomes, there is growing concern about its negative impact on students' emotional well-being. Others may argue that IXL is great, and that if a kid is stuck on a problem it will give them tips (the tips only appear once they get a question wrong.. seriously?). Again, please, if you use IXL, all it's doing is putting your child under a lot of stress.

Diagnostic scores on IXL correspond to grade levels. A score of 500 indicates readiness to begin working on 5th grade skills. As soon as a student has finished diagnosing, you'll have immediate insights waiting for you in IXL Analytics.

Researchers found that the IXL Real-Time Diagnostic demonstrates high reliability as a measure of math and ELA achievement. Additionally, IXL's diagnostic is a good predictor of performance (using ILEARN as a criterion measure), with a correlation of . 90 in math and . 86 in ELA.

A score of 80 is considered proficiency and 90 is excellence.

The main problems are it does not encourage students to learn, the point system is unfair, and is destroys a students self esteem. I have had many of my students tell me "ixl makes me feel dumb...".

IXL is a popular practice tool that many families use to help reinforce the concepts that are introduced in their children's lessons at home or in school. IXL is not an accredited homeschool, and we are not authorized to verify or issue school credits.

The Real-Time Diagnostic is always available; students can enter the Diagnostic at any time and answer as many questions as they like. When students first use the Diagnostic, we recommend they aim to diagnose until their complete diagnostic data is revealed—for most students, this will be around 45 minutes per subject.

All IXL subscriptions provide unlimited access to every grade level available on the site for the subject(s) in your subscription.

Have students answer diagnostic questions until all their levels are up to date. It only takes about 45 minutes to get full diagnostic results in one subject.

Students will need to answer as many as 10 questions correctly in a row to achieve mastery. For most skills on IXL, students will have to complete a minimum of 28 questions to earn a SmartScore of 100.
